Honestly, I don't think that their claim on improved air-flow resulting in higher fuel efficiency and increased power can be confirmed by any measurable value - the truth is that I would never let conventional paper insert get fully clogged, either. Now, my wife and I make 30,000 miles a year in two (or three) cars. Paper air filter is good for roughly 10,000 miles - that makes 3 filters a year - close to the price of K&N permanent filter. Over life of a car (we keep a car typically 6 years) one can save decent amount of money. If there is some saving in fuel (again, I couldn't measure any), there is a bonus, too.
